![]() They continued special order production in the US through 2012. “Hamer maintained regular US production of roughly 800 guitars a year through 2008. We’ve received some more information on the history from : By 2005 production was almost entirely in China or Indonesia, except for US built special orders, and in 2012 Fender discontinued production. In 2008, Fender purchased both Kaman and Hamer. In 1988, Kaman Music Corporation – who also owned Ovation – purchased the company and moved it to New Hartford, CT. The guitars were high quality and popular with a number of touring artists many had wildly custom finishes. Hamer began production at Arlington Heights, Illinois in 1974 and their early designs were based on then-rarer Gibson models like the Explorer. The original Hamer-branded hard shell case is included, and it is in as good condition as the guitar. It’s very comfortable, light and resonant, and sounds great. This guitar is in exceptional condition, with no appreciable wear. Grover Roto-Matic tuners are at the head and a tune-o-matic style bridge and stop tailpiece are used. A pair of Duncan P-90 style pickups feed a pickup selector, individual volumes and a master tone control. It uses Mahogany for the neck and chambered body, and adds a Rosewood fingerboard. Here we have a Hamer USA Artist in silver metallic, built during 1999 in New Hartford, Connecticut, at the parent Kaman plant. Built from 1995 to 2012, the Hamer USA Artist started with historic design – the Les Paul Doublecut, hollowed the body and added arched top with an F-hole. ![]()
